Erin Pulizotto
Artist's Statement
Although I have never been a woman of words, I speak in a visual conversation through my art. Whenever I have pain or just something overwhelming emotionally I could never paraphrase or explain how i felt like the pain from my migraines..i struggle to find words terribly but if I see the pictures something in my head... what I am imagining.... Quite simply, I get create art by drawing 'Migraine Drawings'. For me, this is an artistic outlet and a way to convey visually my emotions, pain, thoughts, and images in my mind. Since my migraines are caused by changes in the weather, thus the environment, my art is directly related the earth, environment, and to nature.
About the Artist's Work
Erin is a versatile artist who uses photography, drawing, and mixed media in addition to other medium to create her art. For the Eco-Art Exhibition Erin has sent six 'Migraine Drawings' in the Zentangle method. Erin's migraines are triggered by atmospheric changes to barometric presser and the migraines trigger the artwork. Migraine drawings are drawings which result when the person suffering from the migraine begins to draw in patterns which form elaborate designs as the work progresses through the migraine itself.
A Zentangle method of drawings consists of structured patterns which induce creativity, relaxation, and focus. Zentangle drawings provide a form of art therapy for many issues including migraines. The level of skill and detail in Erin's Zentangle drawings conveys not only her artistic talent but the elaborate connection between Erin's art and the environment. The power of nature and the environment is truly felt in Erin's drawings as the lines form organic shapes, natural lines, and elements of nature.
Erin's drawings will be displayed in re-used frames with the mats already in the frames so no more frames were purchased.
